I have been guiding the battlefields of Europe for over 20 years. My fascination for military history first took me to the D-Day beaches in Normandy, and then to the battlefields of the Western Front of WW1. Since then I have expanded my guiding to include Berlin, Nuremberg and Munich, and the airfields of RAF Bomber Command and the US 8th Air Force, as well as those of the Battle of Britain. I have guided groups of all ages and experience, from school students to adults who share my passion, including currently-serving military personnel of all ranks, and veterans.
I was a founder member of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides and am an accredited guide, holding Guild Badge Number 37. I am also a fully certificated and authorised guide for the Memorial of the Former Concentration Camp Site at Sachsenhausen near Berlin.
In 2023 I enrolled with the University of Buckingham, taking a research Master's degree in military history. My dissertation is an analytical study of RAF aircrew held in internment in neutral countries during WW2.
In 2011 I retired from the Royal Air Force, having served for some 26 years. I served in the Intelligence Branch and saw active service in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, and the Iraq invasion of 2003. I was fortunate enough to travel worldwide and to work alongside allied nations, security forces, special forces, and government intelligence agencies. Retiring at the rank of Wing Commander, I decided to focus on my passion for military history.
